Booking
Montañas del Fuego and Cueva de los Verdes are sold online only, with a date and time. The other centres have ticket offices, though buying ahead is recommended. No changes or refunds. Tickets with no date are single-use and valid for 3 months. Multi-centre passes are no longer sold. Reduced rates apply only at ticket offices, with a physical document.

Book these two first

Montañas del Fuego, the Timanfaya ticket, and Cueva de los Verdes are sold online only, for a set day and time. Book those and fit everything else around them, but settle your route first, because there are no changes or refunds. The other centres have ticket offices, although the operator recommends buying ahead, and an undated general ticket is single-use and lasts 3 months from purchase.

No pass, so do the sum

The island council's Art, Culture and Tourism Centres (CACT) no longer sell multi-centre passes. You pay ticket by ticket: Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes come to at least €64 per adult. Under-7s pay nothing at any of them, and Casa Museo del Campesino is free.

Timanfaya on the day

Be at the ticket office 15 minutes before your slot. You drive in, but between El Taro and the Islote de Hilario car park you can't leave your vehicle. From there the route continues by bus: about 35 minutes, with commentary in Spanish, English or German. The whole visit takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. From October to April take something warm, because it's windy.

Hire car or tour

With a hire car, buy direct: you pay for what you'll see and choose your own times. Without one, a tour is the practical way. Before booking, check it includes entry to Montañas del Fuego, and compare it with the official €30. Hikes are a different outing, so check whether they take in the Route of the Volcanoes.

Is there a pass for several Lanzarote centres?

No. The Art, Culture and Tourism Centres no longer sell multi-centre passes, so each ticket is bought separately.

How much does it cost to visit Timanfaya?

At Montañas del Fuego, €30, with the bus route included. Children aged 0 to 6 don't pay. Tickets are sold online only, with a date and time.

Can you visit Timanfaya in your own car?

Yes. You drive to the Islote de Hilario car park and join the bus route there, which is included in the ticket. From El Taro you can't get out of the vehicle.
