Book the caves first

The Caves of Drach run on timed entries and tickets go on sale about 30 days ahead, so in high season this comes before anything else. The ticket includes a concert and the boat. Without a car, Genova Caves are in Palma itself. If you're staying around Alcúdia, take Campanet, in the north.

A day in Palma

The cathedral, the Almudaina Palace and the old town can all be done on foot, starting at Palma Cathedral. The afternoon leaves room for the Fundació Miró or Bellver Castle.

Palma Aquarium is the rainy-day plan, but in its reduced-hours months it shuts at 15:30 from Monday to Friday. If you can't get there early, go at the weekend.

A day on the water

Pick a boat trip by where you're sleeping: they leave from Palma, Alcúdia, Pollença and Santa Ponça.

With or without a car

With a car, buy single tickets, and use the official site for Drach. Without one, excursions with pickup save a long trip. Further out, Jardines de Alfabia, Museu Sa Bassa Blanca, Safari Mallorca and the Rafa Nadal Museum in Manacor each have their own ticket.

Frequently asked questions

What can I see in Palma in one day?

The cathedral, the Almudaina Palace and the old town. With a spare afternoon, add the Fundació Miró or Bellver Castle, where general entry is €4.

Which caves should I visit in Mallorca?

The Caves of Drach are the best known, and the ticket covers a concert and the boat crossing. You can also get tickets for Genova Caves in Palma and Campanet Caves in the north.

What can I do in Mallorca with kids?

Palma Aquarium and Marineland are the obvious two, but check your date: in winter Marineland opens mainly at weekends, and the aquarium has short weekdays in its reduced-hours months. On the water, a two-hour boat trip is usually the right length with small children.

Where is the aquarium in Mallorca?

Palma Aquarium is at Playa de Palma. In its reduced-hours months it closes at 15:30 on weekdays, with last entry at 14:00.

Can I see Mallorca without a car?

Yes. There are bus and boat combos from Palma, Caves of Drach excursions with pickup, and island tours by bus, train, tram and boat.
