How long to allow

The Oceanogràfic takes about 4 hours and Bioparc Fuengirola about 3. Go early: at Zoo Aquarium Madrid some animals move to their sleeping quarters before closing, and entry ends an hour before. Closing time at Bioparc Valencia follows the daylight. At Barcelona Zoo, once you leave, you can't come back in.

Where online saves money

At Zoo Aquarium Madrid, the general ticket is €29.50 at the ticket office and from €19.90 online. At Faunia, also in Madrid, it's €33.95 and from €16.90, always with a fixed date. Barcelona Zoo (€23) and the Barcelona Aquarium (€30) charge the same either way, so online only saves time. Bioparc Valencia and Bioparc Fuengirola take off €1 online, at Fuengirola if you book 24 hours ahead. The Oceanogràfic's general ticket runs from €37 to €43.05 depending on the season.

Closed areas and refunds

Barcelona Zoo has improvement works with some areas closed. Check whether that matters before you take children. Loro Parque doesn't refund, but its tickets never expire.

Cabárceno, near Santander, is a different format: more than 120 species living in semi-freedom.

Is it cheaper to buy zoo tickets online?

It depends on the zoo. Zoo Aquarium Madrid and Faunia save you a lot if you pick a date. Barcelona Zoo and the Barcelona Aquarium charge the same online as at the ticket office.

How long does the Oceanogràfic take?

About 4 hours, according to the City of Arts and Sciences. If you add the Science Museum, you can spread the combined ticket over consecutive days.

Are there free days at the Oceanogràfic or Bioparc?

No. Only under-4s go free in Valencia and under-3s at Bioparc Fuengirola.

What age do children start paying?

From 3 at Zoo Aquarium Madrid, Bioparc Fuengirola and both Barcelona sites. From 4 at the Oceanogràfic and Bioparc Valencia. Faunia goes by height: 100 cm.
