Coast, Girona or Figueres

The Costa Brava comes in stretches. From Lloret or Blanes, Marimurtra Botanical Garden is the easiest visit. Further north are the castles, and L'Escala with its anchovies.

Girona takes a day on foot. The Cathedral and the Girona Pass are what you pay for, and the Museu del Cinema suits an afternoon or a wet day.

Figueres fills half a day. Add Cadaqués and you've got a full one.

Dalí: the order to book in

Start with the Portlligat house, which demands a booked day and time. Fix that date before anything else. Then fit in the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, which shuts on Mondays outside July and August, and leave Púbol till last.

The Fundació lists Portlligat as closed from 7 January to 11 February and Púbol from 7 January to 27 February. On those dates the Dalí Triangle Pass isn't worth it: Figueres alone will do.

Coming from Barcelona or the airport

Direct buses run between Barcelona and Girona Airport, and day trips leave from Barcelona. If you land at Girona and sleep in Figueres, there's a transfer between the airport and the station. A day trip saves you the car for Dalí, but check the date isn't a Monday closure.
