Two tickets you can't leave until the day

Lanzarote's headline sights aren't sold at the door. Montañas del Fuego, the Fire Mountains of Timanfaya (€30), and Cueva de los Verdes (€17) are online only, for a set date and time, through the island's Art, Culture and Tourism Centres. There are no changes or refunds, so fix these two before anything else.

Jameos del Agua, from €17, and Jardín de Cactus and Mirador del Río, €9 each, have ticket offices. Under-7s pay nothing at any of them. Details under Timanfaya and the Manrique centres.

Two days for the sights

With a hire car, buy direct from the centres and do the north in one day: Jameos and Cueva de los Verdes, finishing at Mirador del Río. Timanfaya takes another day, in the morning, coming back through La Geria.

Without a car, a guided tour beats stringing transport together. Check that it includes entry to Timanfaya, because not every product spells that out.

La Graciosa, Papagayo and Famara

You can reach La Graciosa by ferry on your own, or on a trip with lunch and a catamaran. The ferry is enough if you only want to walk and swim. Papagayo has catamaran trips, and Famara is the beach for surf lessons.

Can you buy tickets at the door at Lanzarote's attractions?

Not at Montañas del Fuego or Cueva de los Verdes, which are online only with a time slot. The other centres have ticket offices, though buying ahead is recommended.

How do you get to La Graciosa?

By ferry from Lanzarote, or on a trip that includes the boat and lunch. Both are among the products on this page.

Which of Lanzarote's centres is free?

Casa Museo del Campesino, 10:00–18:00. The rest charge, from €5.40 at Castillo de San José.

Can you do a day trip from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura?

Yes. The ferry from Playa Blanca to Corralejo takes 25 or 35 minutes, and round trips with transfers are sold on this page.
