Coming from Madrid

Trains leave Chamartín for Segovia Guiomar, which has a bus connection. Organised day trips spare you that link. Those that add Toledo cram two cities into one day and only make sense if you have no other date.

Get your Alcázar ticket first

The Alcázar warns that tickets often sell out at weekends, long weekends and public holidays, especially those that climb the Juan II Tower. Its busiest hours are 11:00–13:30, so go first thing or after lunch. €7 gets you the Palace and Museum, and €10 adds the tower.

The Cathedral and the Aqueduct

The Cathedral costs €4 with the Bishop's Palace and needs less hurry. Just watch Sundays, when visits don't start until 13:30. It fits well in the afternoon, before or after the walk to the Aqueduct. Guided city tours cover the Alcázar and the Cathedral if you want someone to tie it together.

With a second day

Give it to the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, with an entry ticket and digital guide or a guided tour of the palace and gardens. Balloon flights over Segovia are a separate outing, with breakfast and cava, and you can also book them with transport from Madrid.
