Choose the boat first

Nearly everything you'd reserve goes by sea, in three forms: the ferry to Formentera, to go independently; day cruises with food and an open bar, which can be more party than scenery; and small afternoon boats with snorkelling and few people. The mood changes a lot from boat to boat, so read the listing. Ibiza boat trips compares them.

Formentera as a day out

If you're sleeping in Ibiza, treat it as a day trip. If you're thinking of hiring or bringing a car in summer, read the rule first: from 1 June to 30 September you need authorisation to drive there.

Your base decides the rest

San Antonio faces west, the area for sunset boats around the coves. Ibiza Town and Playa d'en Bossa have the ports for Formentera. Santa Eulalia and the north work better with a car, and that's where the quad tours start. Puerto de San Miguel is the place for Can Marçà cave.

On land, the guided entry to Can Marçà and the BiBo Park visit are the two options with set times. Buggies and quads make more sense in a group.
