Cable cars and funiculars in Spain

Some are city transport, some are attractions. Check it's running first.

Montjuïc and Benalmádena

The Montjuïc cable car goes up to the castle for €19 return, or €17.10 online on its own site. If you'll walk down, one way is €12, but only at the ticket office. Watch the names: the "Barcelona Cable Car" on some ticket cards leaves from Barceloneta beach instead.

The Benalmádena cable car is also sold as a combo with Selwo Marina.

Montserrat: Aeri or Cremallera

At Montserrat, the Aeri cable car runs every 15 minutes for €15 return. The Cremallera, the cogwheel train, climbs from Monistrol, with free parking.

Three funiculars

The Artxanda funicular in Bilbao is city transport: €3.50 a trip, 3 minutes, one every 10 or 15. There's no ticket card for it.

At Tibidabo, park entry already includes the Cuca de Llum funicular, so don't buy it separately if you're going for the rides.

The Bulnes funicular in Asturias has no ticket card either. Alsa sells it.

Mountain cable cars: allow for the weather

On Mount Teide, the ticket won't take you to the summit: that needs a National Park permit, requested well in advance.

Fuente Dé, in Cantabria, is on the ticket cards, but Cantur has announced it will close from 16 November 2026, for a few weeks, and it also shuts in high wind. Read its notice before setting off for Liébana.
