What each city does best

Seville: the patio. The Museo del Baile Flamenco (Flamenco Dance Museum) stages its show in a patio: six artists, one hour, at 17:00, 19:00 and 20:45, €29 for adults, or €33 with the museum. More in flamenco in Seville.

Madrid: the tablao. A tablao is a small room with the audience right up against the stage, so who's performing matters. Cardamomo runs four shows a day, with new artists each week. More in flamenco in Madrid.

Granada: the Sacromonte cave. Cuevas Los Tarantos gives you 60 minutes with a drink from €28, at 19:00, 21:15 and 22:30. One version adds pick-up from your accommodation and a walk round the neighbourhood.

Dinner: do the sum first

At Los Tarantos, dinner lifts the lowest price from €28 to €60. That's €32 for the meal, so weigh it against eating on your own first and taking the 21:15 show. Corral de la Morería in Madrid is different: it has a Michelin-starred restaurant, and dinner is the point.

Names that mislead

Tablao Flamenco Cordobés is in Barcelona, not Córdoba. And Los Tarantos is two places: one in Barcelona, one in Sacromonte. Check the city on the ticket card before you pay.

With children, ask about the minimum age: Corral de la Morería takes no under-7s. The Museo del Baile Flamenco charges €15 for ages 6 to 12.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a flamenco show?

About an hour. That's what the Museo del Baile Flamenco in Seville and Cuevas Los Tarantos in Granada advertise.

Is Tablao Flamenco Cordobés in Córdoba?

No, it's in Barcelona. For Córdoba, look for shows listed under that city on the ticket cards.

Is flamenco with dinner worth it?

Only if you want to eat there. At Los Tarantos, the option with a drink is from €28 and the one with dinner from €60, so you're paying €32 for the meal.

Can children go to a tablao?

It depends on the venue. Corral de la Morería doesn't admit under-7s, while the Museo del Baile Flamenco has a rate for ages 6 to 12.
