Mezquita: free slot or €15

Start at the Mosque-Cathedral, or Mezquita. Entry is free from 08:30 to 09:30, Monday to Saturday, though nobody gets in after 09:20. For a longer or guided visit, general entry is €15.

Here for the day

The Jewish quarter is a few steps away, and tours combining it with the Mezquita and the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs cover a short day in one booking. Handy if you arrive by train from Seville or Madrid and leave that afternoon.

Why stay the night

A night here gives you Medina Azahara, 8 km out and closed on Mondays unless the next day is a public holiday. It needs half a day and your transport sorted. You also get evenings: the Mezquita night visit, a session at Hammam Al Ándalus or the Baño Califal, or flamenco with dinner in a patio. Guided patio tours run too.

Book ahead

The Mezquita night visit takes 100 people per session and the bell tower 22. The Arab baths run by time slot, so book once you have a plan.

You don't need a city pass: visits are paid separately. Medina Azahara is free for EU citizens with proof and €1.50 for everyone else.
