Paying to go in

General entry is €15. Reduced is €12, for over-65s, students aged 15 to 26 and Carnet Joven holders, and ages 10 to 14 pay €8. Buy online or at the Patio de San Eulogio reception centre, on the corner of Calle Torrijos and Amador de los Ríos, where you also collect audio guides. Your ticket covers that centre and the Ruta de las Iglesias Fernandinas.

A seller adds little on a plain entry ticket. It pays off for a guided visit, and nearly everything sold here has a guide or audio guide built in. Add the Jewish quarter and the Alcázar and your day is sorted in one booking.

The free early slot

Entry is free Monday to Saturday from 08:30 to 09:30, but at 09:20 the door shuts and staff start clearing the building. That gives you about 50 minutes, with no groups, and only if there's no special celebration that day. There's no free slot on Sundays.

It suits a tight budget, or seeing the forest of columns without tour groups. It's no use if your train gets in at 10:00 or you want the whole morning here.

Bell tower: small groups

It's €4 extra and about 40 metres up, roughly a 12-storey building. Each 30-minute session takes 22 people at most, so don't leave it late.

After dark

El Alma de Córdoba costs €25 and caps each session at 100 people. In November and December sessions run at 20:00 and 21:30. Photos and video aren't allowed on this visit, so if you want the picture, come by day.

Check the hours

They change by day, and the official site has a tool for it. Entry ends 30 minutes before closing, and you must uncover your head inside.

Amazing experience for both the equestrian show that was out of this World, and the Mosque-Cathedral visit, which was really a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Would definitely keep coming back with Headout.

The Mesquita was truly spectacular. I felt the guide was oversharing hstorical information and minuate to the point of it becoming confusing. Spent too long in the jewish quarter; it wasn't that interesting. I had to leave the tour at that point, as I cannot stand for so long and found it difficult to keep up with the guide and the younger participants.
