Based in the south

Aqualand Maspalomas or Palmitos Park, plus a morning in the dunes, with a camel ride if you fancy it. Buy the 2 Parks Ticket for those two only if you'll do both, on different days. For Aqualand, check the official site first: online prices start well below the ticket office.

Based in Las Palmas

Poema del Mar is a few steps from Las Canteras, so aquarium and beach fit into one day. The Jardín Botánico Canario is free and opens from 07:30 on weekdays.

The peaks without a car

For Roque Nublo and Pico de las Nieves, transport is what you're really paying for, and that's where a tour from Las Palmas earns its price.

Boats first, parks later

Dolphin trips and catamarans run on set days and times, and they're the hardest to rearrange. Poema del Mar and the parks can wait until you've seen the weather.

Is the Jardín Botánico Canario free?

Yes, entry is free. It opens from 07:30 on weekdays, and 10:00–18:00 at weekends and on public holidays. It closes on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January.

What can you do in Gran Canaria with kids?

In the south: Aqualand Maspalomas, Palmitos Park and Sioux City. Aqualand and Palmitos can be combined with the 2 Parks Ticket, on different days.

What can you do around Puerto Rico?

This page lists a dolphin-watching tour and the Angry Birds Activity Park there, and bus 70 runs from Puerto Rico to Palmitos Park.

Can you get to the peaks without a car?

Yes, on a tour. There are trips from Las Palmas to Pico de las Nieves and Roque Nublo, and full-day tours of the whole island.
