Booking
Dated ticket. Free refund or date change until 18:00 the day before your booking. The summit also requires a free National Park permit, which you have to request well in advance.
Opening hours
From 25 October to 31 December 2026: 09:00–17:00, last ride up 16:00, last ride down 16:50. Hours change by period: from 1 July to 30 September 2026 they were 09:00–18:40. Base station car park until 31 December 2026: 08:00–18:00.

Official ticket or tour

Driving? Buy on the official site. The sellers on this page only offer tours, not the ticket alone. The official ticket is dated, and you can change or refund it free until 18:00 the day before, a real plus at altitude.

No car? Take a tour. It gets you to the base station, inside the National Park. Check the cable car is included: some Teide tours leave it out.

Getting to the summit

The cable car gets you close to the peak, not onto it. To stand at 3,718 metres you need a free National Park permit, applied for well in advance. Without one, your visit ends at the viewpoints. If the summit is the point of the trip, sort the permit before the ticket.

The other way up is an activity with the permit included, such as the summit tour on this page. It costs a lot more, so it pays off if you missed out on a permit or would rather climb with a guide.

If you can't get a permit, the official ticket also lets you add the guided route to the Pico Viejo viewpoint, from €55.50 in total for non-residents.

Before you set off

  • Pregnant women, under-3s and people with cardiovascular conditions can't ride.
  • No closed mountain or sports shoes, no ride.
  • Hours change by period. From 25 October to 31 December 2026 it's 09:00–17:00, last ride up at 16:00. In July, August and September 2026 it ran until 18:40.
  • Residents pay a quarter of the price, so bring proof if you live in the islands. Holidaymakers pay the non-resident fare.

Return from €43 for non-resident adults and €21.50 for children aged 3 to 13. Residents pay from €10.75 and €5.38.

Can I buy a one-way ticket?

Yes: €24 for a non-resident adult and €12 for a child. It only makes sense if you're hiking the other way and have planned the route properly.

Do I need a permit for the summit?

Yes. For the 3,718 metres you need a free National Park permit, requested well in advance, or an activity that already includes it.
