Free hours: what's really known

Turisme de Barcelona says you don't pay during the hours set aside for worship and prayer. You'd see only the church, and you probably won't get into the choir or onto the terraces. The cathedral doesn't publish those times on its website, so don't trust exact free hours you find online.

What it does publish is the Mass timetable. On weekdays, in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament: 09:00, 10:00 (not in July or August), 11:00, 12:00 and 19:15.

What €16 buys

The church and cloister, the terraces, the choir with its Golden Fleece stalls (Toisón de Oro), the Chapter House, the Memoria judía display and the Chapel of the Holy Christ of Lepanto. The terrace lift leaves from the Chapel of the Holy Innocents, beside the San Ivo door. If the views are why you came, expect to pay.

For a plain entry ticket, compare with the official website first. Entry stops at 17:45 on weekdays and 16:30 on other days. Services can limit access, so Turisme de Barcelona recommends booking ahead.

Students up to 25, large families and single-parent families pay €14, checked at the ticket office, so carry your document. Visitors with reduced mobility enter by the Santa Eulàlia door on Carrer del Bisbe.

Mark was very knowledgeable. It was a small group. The use of the microphone so everyone could hear was great. Even though it was a small group it was very helpful to have that device.
