On foot: the old town

The old town works as a walking route: the Cathedral, Lonja and market are close together. The Tip-Based Essentials Walking Tour by Local Guides runs on tips, and there's a priced tour of the essentials too. With one morning, either is enough.

Further out: bike or tuk-tuk

The City of Arts and Sciences and the Marina are a long way on foot, so that's where wheels pay off. Take one of these if you have a full day and want the whole city.

Bike. Valencia is flat, and the guided tour takes in 25 highlights. You can also rent a bike and go alone.

Tuk-tuk. The city without the legwork, in a short version or a complete route.

Who needs the sightseeing bus

It makes sense if someone in your group doesn't walk much, or you're staying away from the centre. 24 hours is enough for nearly everyone. The 48-hour ticket only pays off if you'll also use it to reach museums.

Boats and tours with entry

The catamaran leaves from the Marina and is more time on the water than a city tour. Sunset and paella options are in the Valencia guide.

There are guided tickets for the Centro de Arte Hortensia Herrero and the Palau de les Arts, and a route through the Cathedral, San Nicolás and the Lonja. To leave town, see day trips from Valencia.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free walking tour in Valencia?

Yes. The Tip-Based Essentials Walking Tour by Local Guides is paid with a tip: you reserve a place and give the guide what you choose at the end. Check the listing in case the booking itself has a cost. The other tours have a fixed price.

How long does the sightseeing bus ticket last?

24 or 48 hours, sold by Tiqets and GetYourGuide. You hop on and off wherever you like during that time.

Where can I take a boat trip in Valencia?

Catamarans and sailing boats leave from the Marina area, with sunset and paella versions. They aren't on this page: see the Valencia guide. For a traditional boat, the place is the Albufera.

Bike or tuk-tuk?

A bike is better for riding the old Turia riverbed. A tuk-tuk suits children, older travellers or anyone with only a couple of hours.
